TIRUNELVELI, Tamil Nadu – The Tamil Nadu government will invest ₹4.30 crore to upgrade tourism infrastructure at two significant religious sites in the Radhapuram Assembly constituency, Assembly Speaker M. Appavu announced. Work is slated to begin in May.
The projects will focus on the Our Lady of Snows Shrine in South Kallikulam and the Viswamithrar Temple in Vijayapathi. Improvements at the Our Lady of Snows Shrine will include paving walkways (465 meters between North Car Street and Lord of Mercy chapel, and 1100 meters around the hillock), and building a visitor waiting hall. At Viswamithrar Temple, the improvements will include paving walkways (212 meters between Viswamithrar Temple and Sivan Temple, and 380 meters between Sivan Temple and the beach), adding granite benches with shade, and constructing a bus shelter, cover for the temple well, and a devotee waiting hall. Road improvements connecting both sites are also planned.
Mr. Appavu stated that these upgrades aim to significantly boost tourism in the region, creating local job opportunities.
