**Hyderabad, April 28, 2025** – The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) Retired Officers Welfare Association held its annual general meeting on Sunday, re-electing M.V. Nagavender Rao as president for a fifth consecutive term. Other newly elected officers include Kumuraiah (vice-president), P. Venkat Reddy (general secretary), G. Sadasiva Rao (joint secretary), and T.V. Ranga Rao (treasurer).
During the meeting, Mr. Rao presented a list of grievances to Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and TGSRTC managing director V.C. Sajjanar. Key concerns included significant delays in leave encashment and interest payments on fixed deposits with the Cooperative Credit Society (CCS). Retired officers also face a 50% fare charge on super luxury buses, a point of contention for the association.
The association further demanded full medical reimbursement for retired officers and their spouses, mirroring benefits given to government employees. Currently, the reimbursement is capped at ₹2 lakh, leaving many retirees with substantial out-of-pocket healthcare costs. The lack of a pension system for TGSRTC retirees, unlike their government counterparts, exacerbates the financial strain, particularly concerning rising healthcare expenses in old age.
Minister Prabhakar assured the association that all issues would receive careful consideration and empathetic review to provide relief to the retired officers.
