Mon Apr 28 11:00:00 UTC 2025: **Southeast Michigan Facing Severe Thunderstorm Threat Tuesday**
**DETROIT, MI (April 28, 2025)** – Southeastern Michigan is enjoying a pleasant start to the week with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. However, the National Weather Service (NWS) is warning residents to prepare for a significant weather shift on Tuesday.
A cold front moving into the region will bring a high likelihood of showers and thunderstorms, with the potential for severe weather in the afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Slight Risk (2 out of 5) for severe weather for much of the area. The main threat will be damaging wind gusts exceeding 65 mph, while heavy rainfall is also expected. Hail is possible, but the tornado threat remains low.
Temperatures will climb into the low 80s on Tuesday before the cold front arrives and brings a significant drop in temperature. By Wednesday, temperatures will be back down into the low 60s with drier conditions.
Showers are expected to return Thursday and Friday, with temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s on Thursday before dropping to the low 60s on Friday. The weekend forecast currently predicts mostly sunny skies and temperatures gradually rising back into the upper 60s by Sunday.
