**Mumbai, April 27, 2025** – The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be closed for three days next week, from May 1st to May 4th. While several holidays fall within this period, including Maharana Pratap Jayanti, Akshaya Tritiya, and Labour Day, the market will only observe closures on specific dates.
Akshaya Tritiya, falling on April 30th, will not affect trading. However, Maharashtra Day on May 1st will result in a market closure as both exchanges are located in Mumbai, and May 1st is an overall state holiday. The weekend closure on May 3rd and 4th (Saturday and Sunday) is standard.
Last week saw a positive close for the market, with the BSE benchmark index climbing 0.83 percent and the NSE Nifty up 0.78 percent. Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, TCS, SBI, Infosys, and ITC saw gains, while Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance, and Hindustan Unilever experienced losses. TCS saw the largest valuation surge among the top 10 firms, gaining Rs 53,692.42 crore. The closures are specific to the stock market and do not align with all public or bank holidays.
