Sun Apr 27 13:05:26 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Calls for International Probe into Deadly Kashmir Attack Amidst Contradictory Statements

**NEW DELHI, April 27, 2025** – Pakistan is demanding the involvement of Russia and China in an international investigation into the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists, on April 22nd. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack, the deadliest in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama attack.

Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, in an interview with RIA Novosti, suggested that an international team investigate whether India’s claims regarding the attack are truthful. He stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also proposed such an investigation. Asif also alluded to the possibility of a “false flag operation” in an interview with Al Jazeera.

However, these statements contradict those made by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who suggested the attackers might be “freedom fighters.” This conflicting narrative has drawn criticism. Andrew Korybko, a Moscow-based analyst, highlighted the inconsistencies, suggesting a clumsy attempt to cover up Pakistan’s potential complicity.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed the harshest possible response against the perpetrators and conspirators of the attack. The incident has further strained already tense relations between India and Pakistan.
