London, UK – A large demonstration by members of the Indian diaspora took place outside the Indian High Commission in London on April 27, 2025, in response to a Pakistani protest against alleged “Indian propaganda” following the April 22nd Pahalgam terror attack. The Indian protesters, significantly outnumbering the Pakistanis, chanted patriotic slogans and waved Indian flags. A heavy police presence maintained order between the two groups, who exchanged insults. Later, a candlelight vigil was held in Piccadilly Circus to commemorate the 26 victims of the attack.
Similar protests and vigils organized by Indian diaspora groups occurred across the UK, including in Manchester, Edinburgh, and Belfast, to condemn Pakistan’s alleged support for terrorist organizations. The protests follow a Friday demonstration outside the Pakistan High Commission, where a Pakistani official was filmed making a threatening gesture towards Indian protesters. Indian officials have yet to comment on the incident. The situation comes amidst ongoing skirmishes along the Line of Control (LoC) and as India considers its response to the attack. Prime Minister Modi stated that the perpetrators will face the “harshest response”. The events highlight the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the devastating Pahalgam attack.
