Sun Apr 27 16:35:38 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Assembly Speaker Delays Decision on Revoking BJP MLA Suspensions
**Mangaluru, Karnataka – April 27, 2025** – Karnataka Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader has announced that no decision has yet been made regarding the revocation of suspensions for 18 BJP MLAs. The MLAs were suspended for six months, and barred from attending Assembly committee meetings, for disruptive behavior during the Budget session’s debate on the Finance Bill.
Speaker Khader stated that the decision to suspend the MLAs was made by the Assembly as a whole and requires further deliberation before any potential reversal. He added that the MLAs retain the option of challenging the suspension in court.
Separately, Mr. Khader confirmed that a petition filed by five MLAs questioning statements made by Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja criticizing the suspensions has been referred to the Assembly’s Committee on Privileges for review.
