Sun Apr 27 19:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Nationals Rally Past Mets in Walk-Off Thriller, Ending Seven-Game Winning Streak
**WASHINGTON, D.C. —** The Washington Nationals snapped the New York Mets’ seven-game winning streak Friday night with a dramatic 5-4 walk-off victory. James Wood’s first career walk-off single in the ninth inning scored CJ Abrams from first, capping a thrilling comeback.
The Nationals trailed 4-3 entering the final frame. Dylan Crews, who had three hits on the night, tripled to lead off the ninth, scoring on José Tena’s single. After a pair of fielder’s choice groundouts, Wood delivered the game-winning hit, a single up the middle that eluded the Mets’ second baseman.
The Mets had rallied in the eighth, loading the bases before Brandon Nimmo’s infield single and a three-run hit by Matt Vientos, who drove in three runs for New York, off Nationals closer Kyle Finnegan. Vientos’ hit came after Finnegan had gotten ahead of him 0-2. Vientos’ hit gave the Mets a 4-3 lead.
Earlier, the Nationals turned a rare triple play in the fourth inning – their third since moving to Washington in 2005 – turning a 107 mph line drive into a 1-2-3 double play. First baseman Nathaniel Lowe made the initial catch and initiated the play.
Jorge López earned the win for Washington, pitching a scoreless ninth. Jake Irvin started for the Nationals, pitching 7 1/3 innings, allowing only one run. Kodai Senga started for the Mets, allowing two runs in six innings.
The Mets activated Francisco Alvarez and Jeff McNeil from the injured list; both players started and recorded a hit.
The series continues Saturday with Clay Holmes pitching for the Mets and Brad Lord for the Nationals.
