Mon Apr 28 11:24:49 UTC 2025: ## Mandya District in Karnataka Exceeds MGNREGA Targets, Providing Crucial Rural Employment
**Mandya, Karnataka, April 28, 2025** – Mandya district has achieved a significant milestone under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), surpassing its annual employment target by 2.55% for the 2024-25 fiscal year. This achievement has provided substantial livelihood opportunities for rural communities, effectively combating rural migration.
The district generated 27,69,096 man-days of employment, exceeding the targeted 27 lakh man-days. This success is largely attributed to the effective implementation by the Mandya Zilla Panchayat (ZP). A total of 3,44,904 families were issued job cards, with 1,46,039 remaining active, benefiting 2,58,697 individuals.
K.R. Pet taluk demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving 144.55% of its target, generating 7,64,005 man-days. Maddur taluk also exceeded its target, reaching 106.63%. While the remaining five taluks achieved between 70% and 90% of their targets, the overall district performance is considered a remarkable success.
The increased daily wage under MGNREGA, revised from ₹349 to ₹370 effective April 1, 2025, further enhances the scheme’s impact. Families completing 100 days of work can now earn ₹37,000 annually, a significant increase from the previous year’s ₹34,900.
Mandya ZP CEO K.R. Nandini praised the achievement, highlighting MGNREGA’s role as a lifeline for the rural population. She urged villagers to maximize the benefits of the program, particularly with the increased wage rate. With action plans for 2025-26 already approved, the district is poised to continue its strong performance in providing crucial employment opportunities to its rural communities.
