KASARAGOD, KERALA – Kerala’s ASHA health workers, currently engaged in a 78-day strike outside the state secretariat, announced a statewide protest march on Monday. The march, organized by the Kerala ASHA Health Workers Association (KAHWA), will begin in Kasaragod on May 5th and conclude in Thiruvananthapuram on June 17th.

The workers are demanding a livable honorarium and retirement benefits, citing the government’s inaction as the reason for escalating their protest. The march will traverse all 14 districts, with nightly sit-ins mirroring their current protest at the secretariat. Public meetings will be held in major towns along the route, aiming to garner wider public support for their cause. KAHWA leaders expressed confidence in the public’s backing.
