**NAGERCOIL, INDIA (April 28, 2025)** – Over 300 students and their parents attended a higher education mentorship program in Nagercoil on Monday. The event, held at the District Collectorate, aimed to guide Class XII graduates in making informed choices about their college education.
Kanniyakumari District Collector R. Alagumeena addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of higher education and choosing colleges based on academic merit rather than popularity. She highlighted the benefits of government welfare schemes like ‘Pudhumai Penn’ and ‘Tamil Pudhalvan,’ which offer scholarships to encourage further education.
Collector Alagumeena warned against the pitfalls of choosing colleges based solely on peer pressure, noting that many students fail to complete their higher education due to poor college selection. She stressed that selecting a college aligned with academic standards and ranking is crucial for future success.
Professors and officials from the Higher Education, Skill Development, and School Education Departments also participated in the program.
