**Mysuru, Karnataka (April 28, 2025):** A children’s summer camp organized by the Mysuru-based NGO V-Care concluded Sunday, prompting calls for government intervention to expand similar programs. The “Parisara Besuge” camp, focused on environmental awareness and personal development, served children from rural and marginalized communities.

Former Minister and MLA G.T. Deve Gowda pledged to advocate for government-funded summer camps for rural children, highlighting the financial constraints many families face. He praised V-Care’s initiative, emphasizing the societal responsibility to provide such opportunities.

Senior theatre personality Rameshwari Varma echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of these camps in fostering both personal growth and environmental consciousness. She also urged that the financial burden not fall solely on parents.

Nagalakshmi Chowdhary, Chairperson of the Karnataka State Women’s Commission, addressed the children directly, emphasizing the importance of education, safe social media usage, and resilience in the face of challenges. She encouraged girls to prioritize education and dispel any feelings of inferiority associated with government or Kannada-medium schools.
