**Prayagraj, India** – Shakti Dubey, a postgraduate from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), secured the top rank in the highly competitive 2025 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination. Ms. Dubey achieved a total score of 1,043 marks out of a possible 2,025, representing 51.5%. Her score comprised 843 marks in the written exam and 200 in the interview. This victory marks her fifth attempt at the examination. Ms. Dubey, 28, chose political science and international relations as her optional subjects.
The results, released on Tuesday, also revealed the top four candidates’ scores: Harshita Goyal (2nd rank, 1,038 marks), Dongre Archit Parag (3rd rank, 1,038 marks), and Shah Margi Chirag (4th rank, 1,035 marks). A total of 1,009 candidates cleared the examination this year, with 725 men and 284 women securing positions. The successful candidates represent diverse academic backgrounds and include those from various reserved categories.
The UPSC Civil Services Examination is a three-stage process consisting of preliminary, main, and personality tests, selecting candidates for prestigious services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS). Over 583,000 candidates appeared in the preliminary examination held in June 2024.
