**NEW DELHI/BEIJING** – Amidst escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following a deadly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, China has called for restraint and dialogue between the two nations. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in a phone call with his Pakistani counterpart Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday, expressed China’s close monitoring of the situation.

Wang affirmed China’s support for an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 tourists. He urged both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint, engage in constructive dialogue, and work towards de-escalation. He reiterated China’s consistent support for Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts, highlighting the shared responsibility of all nations in combating terrorism.

The call followed India’s strong response to the attack, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and a ban on Pakistani visas. Reports indicate that hundreds of Pakistani nationals have already left India following the expiry of their short-term visas.

Meanwhile, India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) has launched a full-scale investigation into the Pahalgam attack, questioning eyewitnesses and securing the crime scene.
