COIMBATORE, Tamil Nadu – April 28, 2025 – Two supporters of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) were arrested and later released on station bail for allegedly damaging Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) flags in Coimbatore. K. Chellamuthu (26) and M. Manoj Kumar (21) were arrested on Saturday following a complaint by a DMK worker. The flags were erected near the airport to welcome Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who visited the city on Sunday.
In a separate incident, Peelamedu police filed a case against TVK Coimbatore district secretary V. Sambathkumar for allegedly organizing an illegal assembly of party supporters at the Coimbatore airport on Saturday. The complaint, filed by Lakshmi, Village Administrative Officer, Kalapatti west, also alleged negligent driving and public nuisance caused by TVK cadres. Charges include violations of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act, as well as the Tamil Nadu City Police Act.
