**Dharmapuri, April 28, 2025** – Following an audit meeting on Monday, Dharmapuri District Collector R. Sadheesh has ordered stricter monitoring of infant deaths, particularly those of female infants. The meeting focused on addressing maternal and infant mortality rates in the district.
The Collector instructed officials to investigate the number of female children a mother has had in cases of female infant deaths, registering such deaths as suspicious and ordering post-mortem examinations. He also emphasized strict enforcement of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act to prevent illegal sex determination. Officials found complicit in such activities will face disciplinary action.
