HUBBALLI, Karnataka – A job fair held in Hubballi on April 27th resulted in 487 job offers and 670 candidates shortlisted from a pool of 1,820 applicants. The event, organized by the Rotary Club of Hubballi and the District Employment Exchange Centre, saw participation from approximately 70 companies.

MLC S.V. Sankanur, who inaugurated the fair, highlighted the broader issue of unemployment in Karnataka and India. He cited a significant number of vacant government posts (over 2.6 lakh) and the uneven distribution of industrial development, with Bengaluru receiving the bulk of private investment while rural areas lag behind. Sankanur urged young people to consider entrepreneurship as an alternative to seeking government employment.

MLA Mahesh Tenginakai echoed the call for entrepreneurship, noting that while job fairs and government initiatives offer some solutions, self-employment remains crucial. Both officials emphasized the need for increased industrial investment in districts beyond Bengaluru to address unemployment effectively.
