**VISAKHAPATNAM, April 27, 2025** – The Waltair Division of Indian Railways has launched a special summer safety and security drive across its network, focusing on improving passenger amenities and managing overcrowding at major stations like Visakhapatnam. The initiative involves joint teams from the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Commercial Ticket Checking staff conducting “Fortress Checks” to ensure smooth passenger flow, prevent unauthorized entry into reserved coaches, and prioritize the safety of vulnerable passengers, including women and Divyangjan (people with disabilities).
Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra highlighted the importance of these measures in ensuring passenger comfort and safety, particularly during the busy summer travel season. The railways are appealing to passengers to cooperate with railway staff, carry valid tickets, remain vigilant about their belongings, and report any unattended luggage.
