**Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh:** Mahak Jaiswal, from Prayagraj, has secured the top spot in the Uttar Pradesh Board 12th examinations, achieving a remarkable 97.20% (486 out of 500). The results, announced Friday by the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP), revealed an overall pass percentage of 81.15% for the intermediate exams and 90.11% for high school.
Jaiswal’s achievement is particularly noteworthy given her family’s challenging circumstances. Her father, Shiv Prasad, runs a small betel shop, struggling to make ends meet. The family even lived in a roadside hut after their home collapsed two years ago. Despite these hardships, Jaiswal’s dedication to her studies has paid off. She scored exceptionally well across subjects, including 95 in Hindi and English, and 99 in Physics and Biology.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav congratulated Jaiswal, praising her perseverance and gifting her a laptop in recognition of her accomplishment. This follows a similar success story in the family; Jaiswal’s elder sister, Aarushi, secured 4th rank in the 2018 UP Board 12th exams.
The overall pass percentage for the 2025 UP Board 12th exams shows a significant success rate for female students, with 86.37% passing compared to 76.60% of male students. A total of 21,08,774 students cleared the exam out of 25,98,560 students who appeared.
