Sun Apr 27 12:22:48 UTC 2025: ## Veteran CPI(M) Leader Denies Being Barred From Party Meetings
**Kannur, April 27, 2025** – Senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] leader P.K. Sreemathy has vehemently denied reports that she has been barred from attending the party’s State secretariat meetings. In a Facebook post, Ms. Sreemathy labeled the news “baseless” and demanded its retraction.
Earlier reports suggested that Ms. Sreemathy, 75, had been excluded due to a perceived discrepancy regarding an age limit relaxation granted to her as a member of the party’s central committee. It was alleged that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan did not approve of her continued participation at the State level.
However, Ms. Sreemathy clarified that she attended the State committee meeting on Saturday, although she missed the secretariat meeting on Friday. She attributed her absence to unspecified reasons. The age relaxation was granted due to her role as president of the All India Democratic Women’s Association. The controversy continues to unfold.
