**Kansas City, MO** – Ian Machado Garry secured a hard-fought victory over Carlos Prates in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Kansas City on Saturday. Despite a furious comeback from Prates in the final round, Garry earned a unanimous decision victory (48-47, 48-47, 49-46), ending Prates’ undefeated UFC run.

Garry controlled much of the fight, utilizing superior movement, striking, and wrestling to keep Prates off balance. However, Prates unleashed a flurry of punches in the fifth round, nearly securing a TKO. Despite the late onslaught, Garry remained composed and survived the final minute to claim the win. Post-fight, Garry insisted he wasn’t hurt by the late flurry, expressing respect for Prates and his team. He also revealed he’s the official backup fighter for the UFC 315 welterweight title fight between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena.

In the co-main event, Mingyang Zhang delivered a devastating first-round TKO victory over Anthony Smith at 4:03, ending Smith’s MMA career.
