Sat Apr 26 18:30:00 UTC 2025: ## IPL 2025 Match Between KKR and PBKS Abandoned Due to Inclement Weather
**Kolkata, India** – A rain-affected match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 was abandoned due to inclement weather. The match was disrupted by sudden heavy winds and a downpour just as KKR began their chase of 201 runs.
After just one over, with KKR at 7/0, the sudden onset of bad weather forced players to leave the field and ground covers to be deployed. Despite a wait, the rain continued, making it impossible to resume play. At the time of the abandonment, Sunil Narine (4 runs off 3 balls) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (1 run off 3 balls) were at the crease for KKR. Marco Jansen had bowled the first over for Punjab.
Earlier, Punjab Kings had posted a challenging 201/4, thanks to impressive half-centuries from Prabhsimran Singh (83 runs, including 6 sixes and 6 fours) and Priyam Garg (69 runs, 8 fours and 4 sixes). Their 120-run opening partnership set the tone for the innings. While Punjab looked set for an even larger total, KKR’s bowlers tightened up in the final six overs, taking three wickets for only 43 runs.
Winning the toss, Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer elected to bat first. Prabhsimran Singh accelerated significantly after a slower start, adding 49 runs off his last 17 balls. For KKR, Vaibhav Arora took two wickets for 34 runs, while Andre Russell dismissed Priyam Garg, breaking the opening partnership. Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine also bowled economical spells in the latter stages of the innings. The match was ultimately declared a no result due to the persistent rain.
