Sun Apr 27 15:46:19 UTC 2025: **Samajwadi Party MP’s Convoy Attacked in Uttar Pradesh**

**Agra, Uttar Pradesh, April 27, 2025** – The convoy of Samajwadi Party (SP) Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman was attacked by Karni Sena activists in Aligarh district today. The attack, which involved the throwing of tires at the convoy, caused one vehicle to swerve and collide with another. While no injuries were reported, police have filed a case and suspended two officials for their lax response.

The attack follows weeks of protests by the Karni Sena and other Rajput groups against Mr. Suman over comments he made in Parliament on March 21 regarding 16th-century Rajput king Rana Sanga. The groups are demanding an apology from the MP.

Superintendent of Police (City) Aligarh, Mrigank Shekhar Pathak, confirmed the incident and the subsequent arrests. He stated that the accused will be apprehended soon and that departmental action has been initiated against the Station House Officer (SHO).

SP president Akhilesh Yadav condemned the attack, calling it a “deadly criminal act” and accusing the Uttar Pradesh state government of negligence. He questioned the government’s response and suggested a conspiracy was at play. Mr. Yadav’s statement on X (formerly Twitter) implied that the government’s inaction was politically motivated.

The controversial remarks made by Mr. Suman in Parliament, which sparked the protests, questioned the historical narrative surrounding Rana Sanga and Babur. These comments prompted earlier protests outside Mr. Suman’s Agra residence on March 27. The incident highlights ongoing tensions and political sensitivities surrounding historical figures in India.
