Sat Apr 26 19:24:33 UTC 2025: ## Visa Expiration Fuels Uncertainty for Pakistani Hindu Refugees in India
**New Delhi, April 27, 2025** – Hundreds of Pakistani Hindu refugees in Delhi are facing an uncertain future as their visas are set to expire this Sunday. The impending expiration, a consequence of a Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) order following a recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, has sparked fear and anxiety within refugee camps.
While the MHA order exempts those with diplomatic, official, and long-term visas (LTVs), many refugees holding LTVs and awaiting citizenship under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) of 2019 remain in limbo. Their applications for Indian citizenship are still under process.
Refugees report being asked by police to compile lists of residents, including personal details and Pakistan exit dates. At one camp near Signature Bridge, housing 932 refugees, none have yet received Indian citizenship. Another camp near Majnu Ka Tilla, while having granted citizenship to 181 individuals, still has 81 cases under verification.
The situation is further complicated by the stranded relatives of some refugees, who had received Indian visas but are now unable to cross the Attari-Wagah border due to the visa situation. The uncertainty surrounding their future in India is causing significant distress among the affected community.
