**Hyderabad, April 27, 2025** – The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is urging the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the principal opposition party, to publicly endorse the recently passed Backward Classes (BC) Census Bill. TPCC spokesperson Chagani Dayakar stated that the BRS should pass a resolution supporting the Congress government’s initiative at their upcoming public meeting in Elkathurthy.
Dayakar highlighted the Congress government’s commitment to ensuring 42% reservation for BCs through the census. He criticized the BRS, alleging it is a family-centric party controlled solely by the Kalvakuntla family since its inception as the TRS. He contrasted this with the Congress’s history of appointing Dalit and BC leaders to prominent positions.
Further accusations included claims of BRS leaders accumulating wealth during their decade-long rule and failure to implement welfare schemes now achieved by the Congress government within 15 months. Dayakar also asserted that Telangana’s attraction to global investment has increased significantly under Congress rule. The TPCC’s demand for a BRS resolution underscores the ongoing political battle over the BC census and reservation in Telangana.
