Sun Apr 27 04:30:00 UTC 2025: ## BRS Party Celebrates 25th Anniversary Amidst Political Setbacks
**Hyderabad, April 26, 2025** – The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), formerly the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), is celebrating its 25th anniversary this Sunday amidst a period of significant political challenges. The party, which successfully led the movement for Telangana statehood, is marking the occasion with a large-scale event in Elkathurthi near Warangal.
Founded in 2001, the BRS enjoyed considerable success, winning two consecutive terms as the ruling party in Telangana before suffering a major defeat in the November 2023 elections. The party’s performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was even more dismal, with candidates losing their security deposits in most constituencies.
Despite these setbacks, the party is attempting to regroup and is currently focusing its criticism on the ruling Congress party, highlighting its perceived failures to fulfill its pre-election promises. The Silver Jubilee celebrations, expected to draw a large crowd, will culminate in a public meeting addressed by BRS founder and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The event, spread across 1,213 acres, includes extensive arrangements for attendees, including medical facilities, parking, and refreshments.
