**BATON ROUGE, LA** – A pedestrian bridge connecting the downtown Baton Rouge Mississippi Riverfront to the former Belle of Baton Rouge casino site collapsed Friday, officials confirmed. The collapse, attributed to a failed floating buoy in the bridge’s support system, resulted in the structure falling into the river. While the former casino, now rebranded as Bally’s (pending final approval), reported no damage to its property and has implemented security measures to prevent access to the collapsed walkway, authorities plan to remove all remaining buoys and bridge sections. The Belle of Baton Rouge riverboat itself was relocated to Terrebonne Parish in January for dismantling and recycling.
