**Imphal, Manipur –** Manipur security forces have arrested ten militants from various proscribed outfits in Imphal East and Imphal West districts, police announced on Sunday. The arrests, made on Saturday, April 26th, included four cadres from the United National Liberation Front (Pambei) and an associate, apprehended in Imphal East. A member of PREPAK (Pro) was also detained in Imphal West, along with five Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) cadres in Imphal East. Police stated the militants were involved in extortion and intimidation of local residents.

Simultaneous search operations in Moltincham village, Kakching district, yielded a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including guns, rifles, and grenades. These operations come amidst ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur, which has claimed over 250 lives and displaced thousands over the past two years. The state is currently under President’s rule following the resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh in February. The Manipur assembly is under suspended animation until 2027.
