Sat Apr 26 18:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Punjab Kings Post Impressive 201/4 Against KKR in IPL Match
**Kolkata, April 26 (PTI):** Punjab Kings posted a challenging 201/4 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash on Saturday, fueled by half-centuries from Prabhsimran Singh (83) and Priyansh Arya (69). The duo shared a 120-run opening stand off 72 balls, laying a strong foundation for their team’s innings.
Singh’s 49-ball knock included six sixes and as many fours, while Arya, who recently scored his maiden century against Chennai Super Kings, smashed eight fours and four sixes in his 35-ball blitz. While Punjab looked set for a much larger total, reaching 158/1 after 14 overs, KKR’s bowlers tightened the screws in the final six overs, restricting them to just 43 runs and taking three wickets.
Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer, winning the toss and electing to bat, was vindicated by the explosive opening partnership. Arya adopted an aggressive approach early on, while Singh accelerated after Arya’s dismissal. Singh, initially slow, amassed 49 runs off just 17 balls after a relatively quiet start. However, after Singh’s departure, the scoring rate slowed, with Iyer (25*) and Josh Inglis (11*) contributing unbeaten knocks at the end.
Vaibhav Arora (2/34) was KKR’s most successful bowler, while Andre Russell (1/27) broke the crucial opening partnership. Varun Chakravarthy (1/39) and Sunil Narine (0/35) also bowled tight spells in the death overs. Singh’s power hitting was particularly evident in one over against Chakravarthy, where he plundered 19 runs with a four, a six, and another four. Despite a flurry of runs between overs 10 and 15 (71 runs), KKR’s controlled bowling prevented Punjab from reaching a potentially much higher score. Left-arm spinner Chetan Sakariya, included in KKR’s starting XI, conceded 39 runs without a wicket.
