Sun Apr 27 01:00:00 UTC 2025: **Delhi Gets Brief Respite from Scorching Heat, Flights Disrupted by Dust Storm**
NEW DELHI – Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) experienced a sudden change in weather on Saturday, with strong winds and cloudy skies offering a temporary reprieve from the intense heatwave. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a gradual decrease in temperatures over the next 24 hours, bringing relief from the heat. While significant rainfall is unlikely, the IMD forecasts no heatwave conditions from April 27th to May 2nd.
Saturday afternoon saw a dust storm that significantly impacted Delhi Airport operations, causing flight delays and cancellations. Several aircraft were unable to land, leading to further delays for subsequent flights. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for updated flight information.
Earlier in the day, Delhi recorded its hottest day of the season so far, with a maximum temperature of 42.1°C. However, the later dust storm and cloud cover provided some relief.
The IMD predicts a change in weather patterns starting April 27th, with partly cloudy skies and winds ranging from 10-30 kmph, offering further respite from the heat. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 40-42°C and minimum temperatures between 22-25°C on April 27th and 28th. Stronger winds (20-30 kmph) are anticipated from April 29th to May 2nd, with maximum temperatures dropping to 38-40°C and minimum temperatures to 21-24°C. While the IMD rules out significant rainfall this week, the heatwave conditions are also expected to ease. Similar weather conditions are anticipated for the NCR region.
