**New Delhi, [Date]** – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for eight northeastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, while predicting hailstorms in ten states, including Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. This change in weather is expected to bring some relief from the intense heatwave currently gripping several parts of the country.
However, the IMD warns that the heatwave will persist for the next four days in Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. On Saturday, temperatures in 12 cities exceeded 44°C, with Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh recording the highest temperature at 44.8°C. Other cities experiencing extreme heat included Jharsuguda and Baudh in Odisha, Parbhani in Maharashtra, and several cities in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Rajasthan saw temperatures above 40°C in 16 cities. Delhi also recorded its highest temperature in three years at 42.1°C on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan experienced a change in weather on Saturday afternoon, with strong winds and hailstones in several areas. A mobile tower was even blown down by strong winds in Bundi. Similar weather patterns are expected in parts of Madhya Pradesh over the next four days, with rain and hail predicted for Jabalpur, Rewa, and Shahdol divisions. Punjab also continues to experience high temperatures, with six districts reporting temperatures above 40°C and heatwave warnings in several areas.
