Sat Apr 26 10:23:14 UTC 2025: ## J&K Chief Minister Assures Aid After Ramban Floods

**Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, April 26, 2025** – Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited Ramban today to reassure residents affected by devastating floods and landslides on April 20th. The natural disaster claimed three lives, damaged over 600 homes and commercial buildings, and severely impacted a 250km stretch of the crucial Jammu-Srinagar national highway.

While the government has been focused on responding to a recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Mr. Abdullah emphasized his commitment to the Ramban community. He announced that those who lost their homes and land will receive five marlas of land at safer locations. The Chief Minister also stated that funds for restoration work have been released and that a separate proposal will be prepared to address the losses of commercial buildings, which aren’t covered under standard disaster relief funds.

Mr. Abdullah’s visit included an inspection of the highway, which has reopened to one-way traffic. He indicated a possible temporary closure tomorrow to expedite the reopening of a closed tunnel. He also visited Dharam Kund village, one of the hardest-hit areas. This marks his third visit to Ramban to oversee relief and rehabilitation efforts. The Chief Minister stressed his government’s commitment to relocating affected families to safer areas, free from the threat of future landslides or flash floods.
