Fri Apr 25 21:21:08 UTC 2025: ## Kashmir Terror Attack: 26 Dead, Manhunt Underway
**Srinagar, April 26, 2025** – A massive manhunt is underway in Jammu and Kashmir following a deadly terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam on April 22nd, which claimed 26 lives. The attack, carried out by five to seven terrorists, including at least two local militants trained in Pakistan, has sparked widespread outrage and unprecedented protests in the region.
Security forces have launched intensified operations, resulting in the killing of one Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) associate, Altaf Lalli, on Friday. A hideout was also busted in Kulgam, and numerous suspects detained. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is assisting in the investigation, interviewing survivors and gathering evidence.
Initial investigations suggest prime suspects are Aadil Thokar (alias Aadil Guree) and Asif Sheikh, believed to have received training in Pakistan. The houses of both suspects were destroyed after explosives believed to be stored there detonated. Sketches of three other suspects, identified as Pakistanis Asif Fauji, Suleman Shah, and Abu Talha, have been released. Eyewitnesses identified Thokar as the shooter, and indicated the terrorists used body cameras to record the attack.
Security forces are utilizing UAVs and drones to search dense jungles for the remaining terrorists. Warnings have been issued of potential future attacks targeting railway infrastructure, Kashmiri Pandits, and non-local workers. The ISI is suspected of planning targeted attacks on Kashmiri Pandits and police personnel in Srinagar and Ganderbal. The hunt for the remaining terrorists continues.
