**Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, April 26, 2025** – A 26-year-old man, M. Mansoor Ali, was arrested by the Tiruchi City Cyber Crime Police for allegedly posting a video on social media that aimed to incite religious hatred, disrupt national unity, and spread animosity towards the government. The video falsely claimed that a Dalit man associated with the BJP’s IT wing in Jammu and Kashmir had been arrested in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack and alleged links to a banned terrorist organization.
The post, detected by head constable Rajasekar, led to Ali’s arrest and the registration of a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008. The arrest highlights ongoing efforts to combat the spread of misinformation and hate speech online in India.
