Fri Apr 25 21:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Tigers Shut Out Padres, Win Series Behind Olson’s Gem
**DETROIT –** Reese Olson pitched a masterful 7 1/3 innings, allowing only two singles, as the Detroit Tigers defeated the San Diego Padres 6-0 on Wednesday, clinching a series win. The victory improves the Tigers’ home record to 9-4 and marks their sixth series win in their first eight series of the season—their best start since 2015.
Olson struck out seven batters and walked only one, holding the Padres hitless outside of two singles by former Tiger Jose Iglesias. The Tigers’ offense provided ample support, with Justyn-Henry Malloy hitting a home run and a double, and Gleyber Torres adding a solo homer in the first inning. Riley Greene’s broken-bat single and Dillon Dingler’s two-run homer in the eighth rounded out the scoring.
The Padres’ Kyle Hart (2-2) took the loss, allowing two runs on five hits over five innings. Fernando Tatis Jr.’s impressive 23-game on-base streak also came to an end. A spectacular over-the-shoulder catch by Detroit centerfielder Javier Báez in the eighth inning helped preserve the shutout.
Both teams are off Thursday. The Padres head home to face the Tampa Bay Rays, while the Tigers will host the Baltimore Orioles, with Casey Mize slated to start Friday’s game.
