**Chennai, April 26, 2025** – Three prominent human rights activists, John Dayal, Navaid Hamid, and Vipin Kumar Tripathi, were awarded the prestigious Quaide Milleth Award for Probity in Political/Public Life 2024 on Saturday. The ceremony, held at the Music Academy in Chennai, recognized their unwavering commitment to constitutional values, secularism, pluralism, and the welfare of marginalized communities.
Mr. Dayal, a religious freedom advocate and founder of the All India Christian Council, was honored alongside Mr. Hamid, former president of the All India Majlis-e-Mushawarat and current general secretary of MOEMIN, who has championed the rights of marginalized Muslim communities. The third recipient, Mr. Tripathi, a former IIT-Delhi professor, was recognized for his work promoting communal harmony and his contributions to scientific development.
M.G. Dawood Miakhan, secretary of the Quaide Milleth Educational and Social Trust, emphasized the awardees’ impeccable integrity, both personally and professionally. Retired CSI Bishop V. Devasagayam lauded their dedication and urged them to continue their vital work. Former Madras High Court judge Justice K.N. Basha presented the awards. The event was also attended by former University of Madras Vice-Chancellor S. Sathik and the principal of The Quaide Milleth College of Men, M. Amthul Thawab.
