MYSURU, INDIA – April 26, 2025 – Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched a scathing attack on the Sangh Parivar, questioning its contribution to India’s independence movement and accusing it of opposing the nation’s founding principles. Addressing the Yuva Kranti, a Youth Congress convention, Mr. Siddaramaiah contrasted the Congress party’s significant sacrifices during the freedom struggle with the Sangh Parivar’s alleged lack of participation.

He highlighted the Congress’s role in establishing India’s Constitution and ensuring social justice, emphasizing the contributions of figures like Jawaharlal Nehru and B.R. Ambedkar. Mr. Siddaramaiah noted that leaders like Savarkar and Golwalkar opposed Dr. Ambedkar’s Constitution, while the Sangh Parivar’s ideology, rooted in Manusmriti, is seen as divisive.

The Chief Minister urged Youth Congress members to understand the ideological differences between the Congress and the Sangh Parivar, emphasizing the need for a strong commitment to social justice and constitutional values. He cited the BJP’s opposition to the Mandal Commission report as an example of the Sangh Parivar’s alleged anti-reservation stance.

Mr. Siddaramaiah called for similar workshops across Karnataka to strengthen the Youth Congress’s commitment to upholding the Constitution, echoing concerns raised by Minister H.C. Mahadevappa about threats to India’s democratic foundations. The event saw participation from Youth Congress leaders and members across the state.
