Fri Apr 25 21:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Tigers Shutout Padres, Olson Dominates in 6-0 Victory

**DETROIT –** The Detroit Tigers continued their winning ways Wednesday, defeating the hot San Diego Padres 6-0 behind a stellar pitching performance by Reese Olson. Olson held the Padres to just two hits over 7⅓ innings, showcasing impressive efficiency and command. The win gave the Tigers a series victory over the previously red-hot Padres, improving their record to 15-10.

Olson’s success stemmed from his pinpoint accuracy, throwing 21 of 25 first-pitch strikes. Manager A.J. Hinch praised Olson’s relentless approach, keeping Padres hitters off balance with a variety of pitches. Despite facing a lineup with six right-handed batters, Olson excelled, aided by stellar defensive plays, including a remarkable catch by Javier Báez. Olson left the game to a standing ovation after seven strikeouts and only one walk.

The Tigers’ offense also contributed significantly. Justyn-Henry Malloy broke out of a slump, hitting a home run and a double, while Dillon Dingler added his third home run of the season. Gleyber Torres provided early offense with a first-inning homer. Spencer Torkelson continued to hit the ball hard, though unlucky on Wednesday, getting robbed of a home run by a diving catch in right field.

The Tigers also announced a change to their starting rotation for the upcoming series against the Baltimore Orioles, pushing back Jackson Jobe’s start to give him added rest and time with pitching coach Chris Fetter. Casey Mize will now start Friday, with Jobe pitching Saturday. The change also provides Mize with an extra day’s rest due to the team’s off-day Thursday.
