Sat Apr 26 11:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Reds Beat Marlins 5-2 Behind Wynns’ Offensive Explosion and Singer’s Strong Pitching

**MIAMI, FL –** The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Miami Marlins 5-2 Wednesday night, fueled by Austin Wynns’ three-hit performance and a solid pitching outing from Brady Singer. Wynns, just a triple shy of the cycle, contributed a solo home run, a double, and a single, boosting his hitting streak to nine hits in his last 11 plate appearances.

Singer, who improved to 4-0, dominated for six innings, striking out eight Marlins while allowing only four hits and no walks. He held Miami in check after surrendering a two-run homer to Matt Mervis in the first inning. Mervis’ homer was his team-leading seventh of the season. Spencer Steer’s RBI single in the fifth proved to be the game-winning hit, breaking a 2-2 tie. Emilio Pagán secured his fifth save with a clean ninth inning.

While Miami’s Eric Wagaman extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a first-inning double, the Marlins’ offense was largely stifled by the Reds’ pitching. Sandy Alcántara, despite striking out four, took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits over six innings.

The Reds also showcased their speed, stealing four bases, with Elly De La Cruz tying the MLB lead with his 10th steal of the season. A controversial fielder’s choice in the eighth, upheld after a Marlins challenge, also contributed to a Cincinnati run.

The Marlins begin a three-game series in Seattle Friday with Cal Quantrill on the mound, while the Reds travel to Colorado for a three-game series, with Andrew Abbott starting for Cincinnati.
