Sat Apr 26 07:40:28 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Diplomat’s Threatening Gesture Sparks Outrage After London Protest

**London, April 26, 2025** – A tense standoff unfolded outside the Pakistan High Commission in London on Friday, April 25th, as Indian diaspora groups protested the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir. The protest, titled “All Eyes on Pahalgam,” was met with a shocking display from a Pakistani diplomatic official.

Videos circulating on social media show the official, identified as Colonel Taimur Rahat, the Pakistan Army’s Defence Attaché at their UK Mission, taunting protesters from the High Commission balcony. He held a poster depicting Indian Air Force pilot Captain Abhinandan Varthaman with the words “Chai is Fantastic,” a reference to the pilot’s 2019 capture. More alarmingly, he made a threatening throat-slitting gesture towards the demonstrators.

The Indian protesters, waving Indian flags and placards reading “End Terror on Kashmir” and “Stop Terrorism,” condemned Pakistan’s alleged support for terrorism. A spokesperson for the Friends of India Society International (FISI) UK, stated that the official’s actions were “a barbaric throat-slitting gesture…reflecting blatant hostility and a dangerous disregard for diplomatic norms.”

The protest also featured Pakistani counter-protesters using loudspeakers to play patriotic songs, attempting to overshadow the Indian group’s speeches. A Metropolitan Police presence maintained order between the two sides, though at least one arrest was made for alleged racial abuse.

The April 22nd Pahalgam attack resulted in 26 deaths, prompting the demonstration and subsequent condemnation of Pakistan’s alleged role. The incident has raised significant concerns about diplomatic relations and the safety of Indian citizens abroad. The UK government has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
