**Ahmedabad, Gujarat, April 26, 2025** – A large-scale operation in Ahmedabad resulted in the detention of over 450 individuals suspected of being illegal immigrants, primarily from Bangladesh. The operation, conducted early Saturday morning, involved a joint effort by the city’s Crime Branch, Special Operations Group, Economic Offences Wing, Zone 6 police, and personnel from the police headquarters.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), Ajit Rajian, confirmed the detentions. He stated that the immigrants, who were found residing illegally in various parts of the city, are currently being interrogated. Those found without valid documents will face deportation. The detainees are being held at the Kankaria football ground pending further action. This operation follows a similar recent deportation of Pakistani nationals in Telangana.
