**Raleigh, NC** – NC State athletics have been buzzing with activity recently, making significant moves in both the transfer portal and recruiting. The men’s basketball team is undergoing a substantial roster shake-up, adding several key players while others depart.
The biggest addition is highly touted 6’9″ wing Jerry Deng, transferring from Florida State with potential NBA upside. He shot 37% from three-point range during his time with the Seminoles. The Wolfpack also secured commitments from several other transfers: Houston guard Terrance Arceneaux, Butler forward Colt Langdon, and there’s significant buzz surrounding Louisville transfer center James Scott. Conversely, several players are exiting the program, including guards Dontrez Styles and Dennis Parker Jr. (transferring to Radford), and forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield.
On the recruiting front, NC State landed a major coup with the commitment of 5-star shooting guard Matthew Able, one of the highest-rated recruits ever to commit to the school. Other promising recruits, including 3-star linebacker Chad Fairchild and 3-star quarterback Femi Babalola, have also included NC State in their top choices.
Beyond basketball, the women’s basketball team celebrated Saniya Rivers and Aziaha James signing WNBA contracts, while Madison Hayes signed a training camp contract with the Connecticut Sun. On the football side, linebacker Harrison Taggart (BYU transfer) is on an official visit, and the team is monitoring the progress of Anthony Belton heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, where NC State is ranked 8th in the ACC for players drafted over the last 10 years. Former NC State All-American shortstop Will Wilson also made headlines with his first career MLB hit.
Coach Will Wade even took some time away from the court to throw out the first pitch at a recent baseball game where #25 NC State defeated #2 Clemson 14-4. The Wolfpack’s 2025 recruiting class, boosted by Able’s commitment, currently ranks 12th nationally. The flurry of activity underscores NC State’s ambitious plans for its athletic programs across multiple sports.
