**VISAKHAPATNAM, April 26, 2025** – An 11-year-old girl, E. Poorna Chandrika, died under mysterious circumstances near a church in Kancharapalem, Visakhapatnam, late Thursday night. Police are investigating the incident after a complaint was filed by the girl’s father.
According to ACP West Prudhvi Teja, the girl, who suffered from reported psychological issues, was brought to the church by her mother and grandmother in an attempt to cure her through prayer. After visiting another church in Kothavalasa, the family returned to Kancharapalem. While waiting, the girl reportedly exhibited erratic behavior, prompting her mother and grandmother to restrain her using a cloth, which may have led to her death.
Police are yet to determine if the girl had underlying health conditions contributing to her death. The investigation is further complicated by the fact that the girl’s parents have been living separately for several years. A case has been registered by the Kancharapalem police, and the investigation is ongoing.
