CHENNAI, April 26, 2025 – The Tamil Nadu government will expand its Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam, a financial assistance scheme providing ₹1,000 per month to nearly 1.14 crore women. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced on Friday that the government will take steps to include all eligible beneficiaries who were initially left out.
The inclusion will take place during the fourth phase of the “Makkaludan Mudhalvar” scheme, beginning in June. Camps will be set up across 9,000 locations to process applications and enroll eligible women. The Chief Minister stated that the government is actively addressing public petitions received through this initiative to ensure all deserving women receive the financial assistance.
