Sat Apr 26 14:23:15 UTC 2025: ## Visakhapatnam Port Worker Elected Vice-President of Indian Dockworkers’ Union

**VISAKHAPATNAM, Andhra Pradesh – April 26, 2025** – K.S.V. Gopalakrishna Patnaik, a Goods Supervisor at Visakhapatnam Port, has been elected as a vice-president of the Indian Port and Dock Workers’ Union (BMS). The election took place during a recent meeting in Paradip, Odisha, where a new 11-member executive committee was formed.

Mr. Patnaik, an MBA graduate and former international hockey umpire, has a history of involvement with the BMS, previously serving as an alternate member of the Bipartite Wage Negotiation Committee (BWNC) at the national level. Shrikant Rai and Suresh Kamalakar Patil were elected as president and secretary, respectively. The newly elected committee’s details have been communicated to Minister of Ports and Shipping Sarbananda Sonowal.
