**New Delhi, April 26, 2025** – The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) elections concluded yesterday with a 70% voter turnout, according to reports. Voting, which had been briefly suspended last week, resumed Friday amidst enthusiastic student participation, marked by drumming and chanting.
Students expressed key concerns as they cast their ballots. These included improved women’s safety, better infrastructure (specifically addressing hostel, washroom, and library conditions), increased financial aid and scholarships, and a more inclusive campus environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
One first-year PhD student highlighted the need for greater security for women, while a first-year MA student emphasized the importance of financial support to ensure accessibility for all students. Results are expected to be announced on Monday.
