**New Delhi, April 26, 2025** – Following the Indian government’s order revoking Pakistani visas and demanding their holders leave the country by April 27th, numerous families with mixed Indian and Pakistani citizenship are facing a heartbreaking predicament at the Wagah-Attari border. Women with Indian passports married to Pakistani nationals are being prevented from crossing into Pakistan, while their children, holding Pakistani passports, are barred from remaining in India.

Several distraught women shared their stories with reporters. Bajida Khan, an Indian citizen from Rajasthan, was unable to cross the border with her two sons, who hold Pakistani passports. Similarly, Rasheeda Khan, also holding an Indian passport, was blocked from joining her family in Pakistan. Another woman, a resident of Pakistan for two decades, was denied entry despite presenting marriage and death certificates, and proof of her citizenship application. Additionally, four women with families in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, were reportedly sent back to Pakistan. These women pleaded with the Indian government to consider their desperate situations, emphasizing the need to remain with their children and families. The situation at the border is described as chaotic and filled with confusion and panic.
