Fri Apr 25 18:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Du Plessis vs. Chimaev Fight Still On, But Not in June

**Las Vegas, NV** – Rumors of an injury sidelining UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis have been dismissed by his coach, Morne Visser. While a highly anticipated matchup against Khamzat Chimaev is still planned, Visser confirmed to Submission Radio that the bout will not take place during International Fight Week on June 28th as initially speculated.

“We haven’t signed a contract, and the fight was never confirmed,” Visser stated. He emphatically denied any injury to Du Plessis, calling reports of one “bullsh*t.” The fight is still a “done deal,” he insisted, pending contract finalization, expected within the next two weeks.

Visser anticipates an official announcement, including date and venue, within the next two weeks. While a June date was discussed, August or September is now more likely. The coach expressed a preference for a fight in the UAE, citing Chimaev’s substantial fanbase there. Du Plessis last fought in February at UFC 312, defeating Sean Strickland. The UFC is expected to finalize the details soon.
