**Moore, OK (April 21, 2024)** – A mother and her 12-year-old son perished in flash flooding in Moore, Oklahoma, on Saturday, April 19th, authorities confirmed. Erika Lott, 44, and her son, Rivers Bond, a sixth-grader at Apple Creek Elementary, were in a vehicle swept away by floodwaters near 12th Street and S Eastern Avenue.
Moore Police responded to a swift water rescue involving two vehicles; all occupants except Lott and Bond were rescued. The bodies of the mother and son were recovered later. The incident occurred amidst severe weather impacting the area Saturday evening.
