VIJAYAWADA, Andhra Pradesh – The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, blaming the BJP government for a failure of intelligence and security. APCC president Y.S. Sharmila accused the BJP of prioritizing its own interests over national security, questioning how such an attack could occur despite the presence of a large military force in Kashmir. She also criticized the BJP for allegedly attempting to create a Hindu-Muslim divide by focusing on the religious identities of the victims, noting that one of the deceased was Muslim.
Sharmila demanded that the government take responsibility for the loss of civilian lives and resign. Congress Working Committee member K. Raju announced a 40-day statewide campaign to expose what the party calls the BJP’s flawed policies. The party also held a candlelight march in solidarity with the victims’ families. The attack, which targeted tourists, has raised serious questions about security measures in the region.
